IGA Mt Lawley
IGA Mt Lawley
2020
After being a Mt Lawley local for many years, I’m stoked to have finally painted a mural in my own ‘hood! Massive thanks to The Market Place Mt Lawley IGA owner Greg Rice and family for their support in enabling me to deliver a mural which I hope creates a conversation in our community.
Drawing inspiration from the history of the location, there are many local references including the Hyde Park lakes and black swans (with a nod to the Way 79 logo), the leaf of the beautiful Moreton Bay Fig, Art Deco and heritage architecture, Lincoln St ventilation stack, the number 18 tram that used to run up Beaufort St… any many more which I’ll leave for you to work out! At 24+ metres long on the main wall, plus the rear wall, it’s difficult to fit it in one shot.
Thanks to Sean Byford for painting assistance and to all who stopped to chat and share positive comments while we painted in the sweltering heat. Snap a selfie, tag me so I can share and don’t forget to #lovebeaufortstreet too!
