The high intensity, high contrast ‘Fortune Favours the Bold’ emulates fearless determination. The black background exudes strength and the allure of the unknown. The POP of the bouncing fluoro yellow line embodies the energy I poured into the painting. I was exploring the idea of forging your own path, challenging the way things are, seizing life’s opportunities. It can be rewarding to occasionally step out of your comfort zone, take risks and embrace challenges. Seize the day, be bold (not reckless) and make your own fortune! 🙌🏻

In this body of work I explore the connection and divide between my public art and studio practices. Free of client constraints, the dynamic mark making is intuitively expressive. Resisting boundaries the resulting aesthetic invites an open dialogue.

These are the largest studio paintings on canvas I’ve created and I love working at that scale. Created over several months, the works experiment between a bold punch of colour combinations to gentler pastels.
