In this process-driven series Sioux reclaims paint skins from her mural practice which have undergone a careful conservation process.
Exploiting combinations and states of substances, earthen originations converted to liquid forms undergo further transformation of state.
Eliminating preconceived constraints and expectations, a process of deconstruction and rejuvenation emerges. Residual paint metamorphoses into palpable skins, and once integrated with liquid forms, generates exciting new formations.
By contextually reassigning the paint, the work locates itself within the intersections of painting and sculptural aesthetics. This process allows Sioux to explore the integrations between her studio, mural and sculpture practices.
The concept aims to promote resource conservation and exceed conventional notions of material recycling.
‘SIOUX TEMPESTT is fast becoming a local Perth icon for her large scale rhythmic and highly recognisable public artwork which adorns some of the most notable spaces in Perth, integrating the built form and natural environment through thought provoking design.’
