Creative Wellbeing Through Art
My work sits at the intersection of creativity, reflection and community. I design workshops that use art-making as a gentle way to pause, reconnect and think differently - whether in schools, community programs, health environments, or workplace settings.
To deepen this aspect of my practice, I completed an Art Life Coach Certification, a program accredited by ICAHP, IPHM, CMA, CPD and NCCAP. This training expanded my understanding of how creative processes can support wellbeing, resilience, self-expression and reflective thinking in non-clinical environments.
I am not an art therapist nor do I offer therapy or clinical services. Art therapy is a specialised profession requiring formal university study and registration. My work is different: it focuses on creative wellbeing and guided exploration through art-based activities, delivered with care, clarity and respect for professional boundaries.
What My Workshops Offer
My workshops invite people to create, experiment and reflect - without pressure to 'make good art'. The emphasis is on process, curiosity, connection and insight.
Activities may include:
-
collage to explore identity, values, possibilities or themes
-
symbolic drawing / visual mapping to unpack ideas, challenges or decisions
-
simple narrative sequences to reflect on experiences or transitions
-
colour-based exercises to explore calm, mood and emotional energy
-
layered mixed-media prompts that encourage intuition, play and discovery
These exercises function as creative frameworks that help people:
-
see situations from new perspectives
-
access thoughts and feelings that words sometimes miss
-
regulate through hands-on making
-
build confidence, curiosity and problem-solving skills
Participants always choose how much they share, work at their own pace and adapt activities to suit their comfort level. If someone would benefit from clinical support, I encourage appropriate professional pathways.
Where These Approaches Fit
The creative wellbeing tools I use can be adapted across different settings and age groups. They’re flexible, thoughtful, engaging, relevant, contemporary and intentionally designed not to feel preachy or clinical.
They are used in workshops such as:
-
Schools & Youth Programs - creative thinking, identity, belonging, positive expression
-
Community & Adult Workshops - reflection, connection, confidence, creative exploration
-
Corporate & Workplace Sessions - team building, communication, problem-solving, burnout-aware creative reset
-
Hospitals & Health-Support Environments - gentle, non-clinical creative activities supporting calm, presence and expression
These workshops focus on curiosity, reflection and shared experience, rather than therapy or art lessons. Each session is designed specifically for the group, purpose and environment.
Ethics, Consent & Care
Creativity can sometimes touch on emotion. I approach every session with:
-
clear boundaries
-
opt-in participation
-
respect for privacy
-
sensitivity to group and cultural context
