About Sioux Tempestt
Sioux Tempestt is a Perth-based public artist and designer delivering public art projects throughout Australia. Her work spans murals, sculpture, integrated architectural elements and site-responsive public artworks for public spaces, schools, healthcare environments, transport hubs, commercial developments and civic projects.
Her practice focuses on transforming everyday environments into engaging, meaningful and visually distinctive places. Drawing on abstraction, pattern, colour and layered forms, Sioux creates contemporary public art that responds to the histories, ecologies, architecture and communities of each site.
Working directly with clients, developers, architects, project teams, stakeholders and communities, Sioux develops artworks that are grounded in place and purpose. From interpreting industrial heritage and natural waterways to exploring movement, memory and connection, her work is designed to create a strong sense of place and a lasting visual identity.
Sioux’s studio practice informs her larger public art commissions through works on paper, mixed media, painting, digital studies and sculptural forms. This ongoing experimentation allows her to test ideas, refine her visual language and develop new approaches to material, form and composition.
Sioux also facilitates creative workshops for schools, young people, community groups and intergenerational participants. These programs support connection, participation and creative confidence, while contributing to broader public art and community engagement outcomes.
In addition to her visual arts practice, Sioux writes essays and poetry exploring memory, observation and the psychological dimensions of place. Her first book INNOMINATE was published in 2021, combining poetic fragments and mixed media artworks. She also releases instrumental music under the pseudonym ABSTRKT XNOIS, using layered audio textures to investigate mood, disruption and urban atmospheres. Her video work has been shortlisted in various short film festivals, with a focus on non-linear narrative and abstracted visual storytelling.
