Forage

Forage is a large-scale public art road mural created for West Perth Local as part of the Streets Alive program in West Perth, Western Australia. Delivered in partnership with Doing Co and supported through Main Roads Western Australia funding administered by WALGA, the project transforms a section of Outram Street into a vibrant piece of public art that contributes to placemaking, streetscape activation and local identity.

Inspired by native Western Australian flora and pollinators, the artwork uses bold abstract forms, colour and movement to celebrate the ecological relationships that exist within the urban environment. Native flowers and bee species are reinterpreted through a contemporary visual language, creating a distinctive artwork that can be experienced from multiple viewpoints within the public realm.

Designed specifically for the site, Forage responds to the movement of vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians through the precinct. The composition unfolds across the roadway, encouraging people to engage with the streetscape in new ways while creating a memorable visual landmark within West Perth.

Beyond its visual impact, Forage demonstrates the role public art can play in enhancing public space, supporting place activation initiatives and strengthening connections between people, place and community.
