Victoria Park Centre for the Arts – Footpath & Driveway Murals

Commissioned by the Town of Victoria Park

This project reimagined the entry points to the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts through bold, contemporary ground murals. Both the footpath and driveway were transformed into vibrant, layered compositions that speak to the creativity and diversity of the centre itself.

Concept and Inspiration
The footpath mural features an abstract interpretation of Andy Warhol’s iconic banana – a playful nod to contemporary art history and instantly recognisable in form. Its placement leads visitors towards the entrance, drawing them into the creative hub. The design also incorporates strong, rhythmic colour blocks and gestural marks, creating energy and movement as people walk along it.

The driveway mural carries the statement ‘ART IS EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING IS ART’, a bold declaration that reflects the centre’s ethos and the inclusive nature of the arts. Both works reference multiple creative disciplines, symbolising the diversity of practices that take place within the centre.

Process and Detail
The palette was intentionally bright and energising, encouraging curiosity and engagement from passers-by. One of the challenges during painting was working under the shade of a jacaranda tree that dropped flowers constantly – an unpredictable but poetic reminder of how art-making intersects with its environment.

A Creative Welcome
Together, the murals transform everyday surfaces into an active part of the centre’s identity – a visual celebration of creativity that greets every visitor.
